For Providers
The Department of Medical Assistance Services, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Old Dominion Dental Society have been working together to develop a new Medicaid/FAMIS dental program. After listening to dentists’ concerns about how dental benefits are administered under the current program model, Smiles For Children (effective July 1, 2005) was created and includes the following significant changes:
-
30% overall increase in fees! (28% overall increase in July, 2005; and an additional 2% in May, 2006)
-
Dental services for all children are coordinated by a single administrator (i.e., no more switching between Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and fee-for-service)
-
Dedicated call center
-
Flexible billing; prompt payment; industry-standard administration
-
Flexible panel size (you determine the number of patients) Fee-for-service reimbursement
-
Streamlined authorization requirements and simplified credentialing process
We need your participation. Interested providers, please call 1-888-912-3456 to speak with a Smiles For Children provider relations representative.
