Medicaid Covers Mental Health and Addiction Treatment

Mental illness and addiction affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Virginia Medicaid covers treatment to help members avoid a crisis, as well as services to support recovery.

Treatment options include outpatient and inpatient care, and medications shown by research to help people addicted to prescription drugs or other opioids. 

Help is available. Call your primary care doctor or your Behavioral Health Services phone line on your health plan ID card.
