Overview
Virginia is committed to ensuring that rural communities have access to the care and resources they need to thrive. The Rural Health Care Transformation initiative will:
- Assess rural health needs across the Commonwealth
- Identify best practices to improve care delivery
- Develop innovative, sustainable solutions
- Expand access to high-quality, affordable care
This work brings together state and local agencies, health care providers, nonprofit leaders, business partners, and community stakeholders to create a stronger, more connected health system in rural Virginia.

Virginia’s Rural Health Care Transformation Proposal: VA Rural Vitality
Virginia’s VA Rural Vitality proposal presents a plan to strengthen rural health care across the Commonwealth.
Developed through extensive stakeholder engagement, including 12 listening sessions and input from more than 200 organizations, the proposal identifies four key goals and initiatives to improve health care access, outcomes, and innovation across rural Virginia.
