Important COVID-19 Vaccine Update: The FDA Approves Vaccine for Children Ages 5 - 11

The FDA has approved the COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11. You can now make sure your children are protected at school, during sports activities, and when they are spending time with friends.

The vaccine works. The vaccine is highly effective at preventing severe cases of COVID-19. Unvaccinated Virginians are almost 6 times more likely to develop COVID-19 than those who are fully vaccinated. Getting your children vaccinated will help make sure they are safe when they are at school and at extracurricular activities.

If you have questions about the vaccine, talk to your children’s doctor. Your pediatrician will give you the best information available.

Use Virginia’s vaccine finder tool to find a vaccine location near you. Many vaccine locations accept walk-ins and have evening and weekend hours, making it easy for you to make sure your children can get a shot.

The vaccine is free for all Virginians. Make sure your entire family is fully protected by getting vaccinated today. Find an appointment.
