Once you select your health plan, it’s time to choose your primary care provider (PCP). A PCP is your doctor who provides most of the health care you will need. Your PCP may also refer you to other providers for more specialized care.

Having health coverage during your pregnancy can help protect both you and your baby. Cover Virginia makes it easy to apply for quality no-cost health coverage to help ensure that you and your baby remain healthy.

More than 70% of Virginians are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Unvaccinated Virginians are 4 times more likely to get COVID-19 than those who are fully vaccinated. They are also more likely to get very sick or hospitalized. You can protect yourself, your family and your friends by getting your shot.

Some Medicaid members are now eligible to choose a new health plan for 2022. Members eligible to pick a plan at this time received a letter with more details in the mail.  The plan selection period runs through April 30, 2022. 

1 in 10 Virginians struggle with hunger. If you are struggling to feed yourself or your family, the Department of Social Services offers several food assistance programs that can help.  

Some people have health problems after an initial recovery from COVID-19. If you are experiencing new or ongoing symptoms, call your Primary Care Provider to make an appointment. Together, you can discuss possible treatment options.

Many people facing addiction can benefit from treatment. Medicaid covers addiction and recovery treatment services for members. Treatment options include outpatient and inpatient care, as well as medications shown by research to help people addicted to prescription drugs or other opioids. 

Keeping our youth healthy – both physically and mentally – is a top priority for us. That is why we recently expanded our coverage to add new behavioral health (or mental health) services for youth ages 11-18. These new services offer community-based programs and family support while keeping youth at home and in school.
